(middle)march

1f 1m (with doubling)

In the town of Middlemarch at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, a brilliant young housewife meets a radical new doctor and their lives are changed forever. Driven into unhappy marriages by professional ambition, Mrs. Dorothea Casaubon and Dr. Tertius Lydgate find an unexpected — and illicit — connection when he becomes her aging husband's physician. As the pair struggles to repress their growing attraction, they are haunted by a novel's worth of figures from their past and present, trapping them both in the only part of the story their love cannot survive: the middle.

Loosely based on characters from George Eliot's late Victorian classic, (middle)march is a nonlinear exploration of science, sexuality, and the devastating cost of repression.
